Fibromyalgia is a musculoskeletal fatigue disorder, nobody knows what the cause of this disorder is as yet, but generally it means pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons. More women than men suffer with fibromyalgia and it can affect people of all ages.

Symptoms You could compare it with a serious bout of the flu where every bone in your body is in pain and aches all over and you feel totally without energy and exhausted.

The degree of symptoms will vary from one person to the next. The pain has been described as throbbing, shooting and stabbing pain and deep muscular aches, in the morning the pain can be more severe than at any other time during the day. There is also fatigue which can vary in severity between people, but it is said that you can feel totally exhausted and your arms and legs can feel like a heavy weight is attached to them, people afflicted with fibromyalgia are likely to suffer from sleep disorder, aparantly getting to sleep is the easy part but staying asleep is the hard part as your deep sleep can be constantly interrupted. fibromyalgia suffers can also show signs of irritable bowl syndrome which includes-

Constipation

Diarrhea

Frequent Abdominal pain

Abdominal gas, and nausea

Recurrent migraines or tension headaches are seen in about 70% of fibromyagia suffers

Premenstrual syndrome and painful periods, chest pain, morning stiffness, memory impairment, numbness, and tingling sensations, muscle twitching, irritable bladder, and the feeling of swollen extremities, skin sensitivities, dry eyes and mouth, dizziness, impaired coordination are all other common symptoms of fibromyalgia syndrome.

Changes in weather, cold or drafty environments contribute to flare-ups as well as: infections, allergies, hormonal fluctuations, stress, depression, anxiety, and over exertion.

The cause of fibromyalgia is still unknown, but there are triggering factors involved such as.

infections viral or bacterial

automobile accidents

rheumatoid arthritis

and lupus
