Is fibromyalgia hereditary?
Answered By Eric Falwelle, Editor
The cause of fibromyalgia remains elusive. However, recent studies show that genetic factors can predispose individuals to a genetic susceptibility to fibromyalgia. Mostly, the onset of fibromyalgia is slow, but in a large percentage of patients, the onset is usually triggered by an illness or injury that causes trauma to the body.
